A Positive Change For Caerphilly

Owen Pledges To Support Schools

Owen will fight for greater independence for schools in Caerphilly.

Conservative plans will see budgets handed directly to schools, giving teachers the flexibility to ensure the best education for our children and reducing unnecessary management costs.

He said: “There is no doubt that the years ahead will be tough, but if we focus on outcomes and ensure we get value for money from every pound of your taxpayers’ money, we can ensure that children in Caerphilly receive a great education and develop the skills we need to build a strong local economy."

Owen's Pledge to Caerphilly:

> Establish a Caerphilly Jobs Trust to support people to move from education to employment in Caerphilly

> Run jobs clubs to help people looking for work and tackle unemployment

> Work with schools to ensure young people understand what the Welsh Assembly does, and visit every school once a year

Welsh Conservatives Policies To Deliver Change:

> Fund schools directly from the Welsh Assembly Government, and make Ministers accountable for funding

> Boost standards and work more closely with schools in order to close the attainment gaps at GSCE and A Level between English and Welsh pupils

> Require all secondary schools to set up a social enterprise managed and run by pupils
