Owen Meredith, has called on the Welsh Assembly to “get off the backs” of local businesses, following a week of discussion with Caerphilly based firms.

He kicked off an “on-going conversation with local businesses” by meeting a number of town centre shop-keepers, business groups and larger employers.

> Work with local businesses to promote tourism

> Restore pride in Caerphilly town centre and encourage new retailers into the town

> Create Caerphilly Economic Council to advise local politicians about the policies that are holding business back

> Promote local produce and reduce food miles through food cooperatives and a larger farmers' market.
